COURSES

I am very passionate about my chickens and would love to share my knowledge with first time chicken keepers or those fairly new to it who would like a bit more confidence in handling their birds and gaining extra useful information.  This excellent chicken keeping course will provide you with enough information to purchase your birds and their housing with confidence, cover day to day maintenance, handling, feeding and health issues.

The course will be run on a number of fixed dates through the year or can be booked individually at a date convenient to you provided there are a minimum of 2 people.  I can happily accomodate children too, so the whole family can join in together.  The course will be run indoors, however there will be an opportunity to walk around my set up outside (bird flu restrictions allowing), look at some different housing and also ask questions, so wellies are recommended.

You will have an enjoyable couple of hours at The Clucking Palace along with some of my favourite bantams and cover:

  • Choosing appropriate housing
  • Handling your birds
  • Health checks
  • Dealing with pesky parasites
  • Day to day maintenance including cleaning out
  • Feed
  • Predators

This chicken keeping course is aimed at adults, but families are very welcome (recommended for children over 6).  Please bear in mind the length of the course if bringing young children.

A morning course will run from 10am and last approximately 2 hours.  An afternoon session will run from 2pm.  There will be ample opportunity to ask questions and courses can be tailored if booking your own group or family course. Tea, coffee and cake supplied! There will be a 5% discount on any birds or housing bought on the course day.
